Low-temperature (4-77°k) Spectroscopy of Anacystis; Temperature Dependence of Energy Transfer Efficiency

چکیده
From the absorption spectra, emission and excitation spectra of chlorophyll a (Chl a) and phycocyanin fluorescence measured (from 4 to 77 °K) at different wavelengths, we confirmed that a large portion of Chl a (Chl a 670, Chl a 678 and Chl a 7o5),.in Anacystis, is in System I, and that System II is composed mainly of phycocyanin and of some Chl a 670 and Chl a 678. Our data also confirmed the following correspondence between absorption and fluorescence bands: phycocyanin (with bands at 580, 625 and 634-637 nm) and allophycocyanin (approx. 650 nm) are responsible for the broad fluorescence band at 653-655 nm and Chl a 670 for F68o (when Chl a 678 is preferentially extracted). (Date in ref. 20 show that Chl a 678 is responsible for F685.) The ratio of f715 to f685 + f695 was greater in System I than in System II. The efficiency of energy transfer from Chl a 670 to Chl a 678, that approaches ioo % even at 4 ° K, was found to be independent of temperature. However, transfer efficiency from phycocyanin to Chl a was temperature dependent; it was lower at 4 than at 77 ° K. The quantum yield of Chl a fluorescence (~t excitation ---435 nm) was higher (by a factor of 4) at 4 than at 77 ° K. The estimated quantum yield of fluorescence in Anacystis at 4°K is only 6 % (). excitation = 560 nm) and approx. 3 % (4 excitation = 436 nm).

Low-temperature (4-77°k) Spectroscopy of Chlorella; Temperature Dependence of Energy Transfer Efficiency
From the absorption spectra and the excitation spectra of chlorophyll a fluorescence measured (4-77 °K) at different wavelengths (685-760 nm) and their comparison with the emission spectra published elsewhere 23, we confirm that both the Pigment Systems (I and II) contain chlorophyll b, chlorophyll a 670 and chlorophyll a 678. But System II is relatively enriched in chlorophyll b and System I i...
متن کاملRole of thermal excitation in ultrafast energy transfer in chlorosomes revealed by two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy.
Chlorosomes are the largest light harvesting complexes in nature and consist of many bacteriochlorophyll pigments forming self-assembled J-aggregates. In this work, we use two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2D-ES) to investigate ultrafast dynamics of excitation energy transfer (EET) in chlorosomes and their temperature dependence. From time evolution of the measured 2D electronic spectra ...
متن کاملTemperature Dependence of Collisional Energy Transfer in Highly Excited Aromatics Studied by Classical Trajectory Calculations
The temperature dependence of the gas-phase collisional relaxation of highly vibrationally excited aromatic molecules has been studied using large scale classical trajectory calculations. The investigations have focused on azulene collisions with different colliders (He, Ar and N2) as well as pyrazine self-collisions providing the moments of energy transfer k∆El and k∆E l in the temperature ran...
متن کاملTemperature dependence of acoustic vibrations of CdSe and CdSe-CdS core-shell nanocrystals measured by low-frequency Raman spectroscopy.
We measure the temperature dependence of breathing-mode acoustic vibrations of semiconductor nanocrystals using low-frequency Raman spectroscopy. In CdSe core-only nanocrystals, the lowest-energy l = 0 mode red-shifts with increasing temperature by ∼5% between 77-300 K. Changes to the interatomic bond distances in the inorganic crystal lattice, with corresponding changes to the bulk modulus and...
متن کاملExcitation energy migration in oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) based organogels: structure-property relationship and FRET efficiency.
Excitation energy migration (EM) and assisted energy transfer (ET) properties of a few oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) (OPV) based organogelators with different end functional groups have been studied using picosecond time-resolved emission spectroscopy (TRES). EM was found to be more efficient in OPV gelators with small end functional groups (OPV3-4) when compared to that of the gelators with bulky...
